Columbia, Md. (April 29, 2007) – Sophomore guard and Audacious Inquiry alumnus David Rodriguez scored his first collegiate points in Vanderbilt’s 77-44 first round victory over George Washington University in the N.C.A.A. men’s basketball tournament.

With just over 12 seconds left in the game, which was broadcast nationally on CBS, Rodriguez was fouled attempting a lay-up. With the Commodore fans on their feet, Rodriguez converted on his second free throw attempt. That free throw capped Vanderbilt’s strong first-round performance; the team went on to beat Washington State in two overtimes before falling to Georgetown in the east regional semifinal.

“We couldn’t be more excited for David,” said Christopher Brandt, Audacious Inquiry’s Managing Partner. “This may be the launching pad for a long career in the NBA, but if he chooses a different path, we hope he’ll consider rejoining the AI team.”

Rodriguez, who hails from Sarasota, FL, walked onto the Vanderbilt team as a sophomore. The George Washington game was only his second appearance for the Commodores.

“The people at Audacious Inquiry ultimately taught me the value of striving to be great, as these individuals consistently make it a part of their daily routine,” Rodriquez said. “There is no doubt in my mind that AI helped me learn how to stand up in the face of adversity, as well as demonstrate the importance of the values of perseverance and hard work. These are fundamental values in life, and are things I take with me everyday in my experiences both on and off the court.”

Rodriguez spent the summer of 2006 as an Audacious Inquiry intern, working on a client project in healthcare IT.
